Conversation is NOT Enough

What happened last Wednesday started at home.

A lot of y’alls brothers (& sisters), sons (& daughters), nephews (& nieces), uncles (& aunts), cousins and friends were either at the Capitol on January 6th, or a capitol in another state (at least 3 from what was reported by friends across the country!) desperate to cling to white supremacy and antisemitism.

And many that weren’t, are defending them today (in writing, so clearly there is no shame). If you are staying silent/allowing for it, you are a part of the problem. We are not friends. You are not friends with any other Black, Indigenous, or Jewish person that you think you are friends with, either.

You are as blind as you want to be. As silent as you want to be. As complicit as you want to be. As performative as you want to be. As afraid of losing your white privilege, subsidized lives, and trust funds as you want to be. As “fiscally conservative” as you want to be. As “socially liberal” as you want to be. As full of bullshit as you want to be.

White supremacy and antisemitism must and WILL die. People like me have been building on the work our elders did, working to make it happen our entire lives. We have been in overdrive the last 5 years.

We are still in the beginning.
Get on board or get lost.
